The French went to Texas to get vines to graft to their vines. Camanare did not take to grafting so it disapeared in France. Today it is found in Argentina and Chile. Have there been any new Camanare out of France and if so how does it compare?
One of the most memorable wine I have had was a St. Emillion with an Italian dinner. Sauterenes are my favorite but they have their place. I enjoy a good glass of wine to end my day. But I want to explore more variety. My wife likes the VERY sweet moscatos. What other sweet wines compare to Saracco? Day just relaxing? What do you think? Thank you for your time. I personally for drinking pleasure enjoy pinot noir and cab.
Both have a good rich earthy taste. Generally defined as robust and strong, the Cabernet Sauvignon is dominated by hallmark dark-fruit flavours like blackcurrant and bell pepper. Merlot, being a more plumy grape variety, provides a balance to the intense flavours of Cab Sav.
Merlot, typically being a full-bodied varietal, also adds weight to the wine, while the tannins and acidity are introduced by Cab Sav, thus providing the blend with a great structure and length. Depending upon the winemaker, region and style of the blend, proportion of both the grapes may vary. Although, there are some hallmark characters which can be found in every Cabernet Merlot blend. It usually reveals blueberry, mocha, cassis and spicy notes and a well-structured palate.
The blend is also said to develop upon ageing. While the American oak imparts vanilla notes, the French oak adds a touch of spice and cedar along with a lovely smokiness.
Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are often grown together. Both Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot require moderate or hot climate to ripen properly. The left bank is particularly renowned for Cabernet Sauvignon, which presents high levels of tannin, acidity, medium alcohol and can be aged for many years. When you do, they will appear under the My Wines tab and also be automatically added to the relevant grape variety and display the appropriate Style icon.
