Why is rio rated pg

The movie is full of sexual inuendo, rap music including the evil bird saying he is a 'bird murderer', and music with lyrics such as "I just want to party" and something was rap hard to catch about shaking the bootie. That anyone would recommend this for young children is appalling. YES it is 'child-fied' to make it seem less offensive, but this is just an adult movie with bright colorful animation.

Adult Written by farmgirla May 18, Funny, but with several unnecessary elements. While I liked the story and loved all the beautiful colors, I was highly disappointed in the amount of innuendo in the film. Parents do not need that in order to enjoy a movie with their kids. If anything, it made me wish I had not taken them to see it.

Many of the main characters were scantily and inappropriately dressed. And while I am fine with romance in a kids movie, I hate when they focus on the sexual side of characters. Parent of a 3-year-old Written by Natasha P. February 2, Sexual Related Content Great movie but men in tight clothes and women in bikini festive wear was too much for me.

My son is 3 years old. I don't want to have to explain that to a 3 year old. The only thing I should explain is there location and the type of birds that are there. Anything sexual related should come from the parent not a movie. The rating is wrong. Its not suitable for All ages. I would say unless your child is 15 and still love cartoons than this is a good movie for them.

Read my mind 2. Adult Written by karMom December 29, Nice bodies don't have to equal love While we really enjoyed most of the movie, I did not like how the main male character is slightly interested in the female until he sees her very scantily dressed. Then he "falls in love" with her.

I don't need my girls to think that they need to show off their bodies to get men to notice and "love" them. He could just have easily fallen for her while she was fully clothed. Helped me decide 1.

Had useful details 1. Read my mind 1. Adult Written by pinka August 28, Very disappointed I am watching this movie with my four year old and think that it is completely inappropriate.

There is frequent use of language that we do not allow in our home. In addition, the sexual innuendos are not necessary. While my four year old may not understand them, my eleven year old does.

These negative aspects, outweigh any positive messages that this movie may try to send. Rio reinforces gender roles in an oppressive way I'm so so so tired of movies that revolve largely around the performance of masculinity and femininity! And in this one this is done in the most ham-fisted way: to save the day the main human female has to dress in an overtly "feminine" outfit and "shake her tushy", the main male bird has to discover his role in rescuing the suddenly helpless female.

As a parent of girls who constantly navigate the maze of gendered behaviour are they tomboys? His character is a blue Brazilian macaw named Blu who, through a series of unforeseen events, ends up in the wintry town of Moose Lake, Minnesota. There the former jungle chick becomes so domesticated he brushes his "teeth" and drinks hot chocolate.

Linda voice by Leslie Mann , his owner, is a timid, bespectacled bookstore owner who has never journeyed far from the snowy community where she lives. Blu is equally academic, and apprehensive. Tulio voice by Rodrigo Santoro , an ornithologist, runs a bird sanctuary in the lush city of Rio de Janerio. He has the last surviving female blue macaw in his facility and would like to introduce her to Blu.

Though it takes some persuasion and outright pleading from the bird-loving Tulio, Linda finally agrees to head south with her beloved pet. Having never seen one of his own kind before, Blu is enthralled when he first meets Jewel voice by Anne Hathaway. But his clumsy attempts at wooing that include some mild, veiled innuendo are instantly rejected. She just wants to get out of the enclosure and back to the jungle.

Forced to walk everywhere, the pair battles while trying to break their leg irons before the bird dealer and his crazy, evil cockatoo voice by Jemaine Clement spot them. Rio is surprising in a couple of ways. Rio Edited to Get "G" Rating. Share This Page. Rio [] Rio in 3D [].

This is one of those movies where you see it, and then want to watch it a hundred more times. The storyline is great. The characters too!
